About the Journal

Background

Science Discourse provides the medium for the dissemination of research results, interrogate existing knowledge and provide impactful and meaningful contributions to the expansion of the frontiers of knowledge. The Journal aimed at bridging the interstices in scientific and technological studies from interdisciplinary approach.  The journal provides rapid publication of rigorously peer-reviewed articles in all fields of Science and Technology. It is an essential reading for Scientists, Engineers, Educators, and other Professionals who need to keep-up with the trends in scientific and technological research and applications. The journal covers experimental and theoretical studies in all aspects of pure and applied sciences; therefore, manuscripts are invited from all branches of science including:

  1. Chemistry,
  2. Geology,
  3. Mathematics,
  4. Physics,
  5. Biological sciences,
  6. Environmental sciences, and
  7. Computer science.

Manuscript in medicines, engineering, science and vocational education and other science related discipline are also suitable for consideration.

GUIDE TO AUTHORS

Submission of manuscript

The articles to be submitted to Science Discourse are required to meet the general criteria of novelty and scientific excellence. Submission of manuscript implies that it is not yet published or being considered for publication elsewhere. Manuscript prepared in MS Word should be submitted electronically to the Editorial Office at: https://sciencediscourse.com.ng/index.php/sd/about/editorialTeam. The blind manuscript, Highlights, Graphical Abstract, Tables, and Figures should be included in a single Microsoft Word file. A cover letter, which includes the Corresponding Author's Full Address, e-mail address and telephone/fax number should accompany the submission.

The author(s) may also suggest three or four reviewers for the manuscript (The Editor may designate other reviewers).

A manuscript number shall be assigned and mailed to the Corresponding Author’s e-mail within 48 hours of submission.

Article Types

The three types of manuscripts that are eligible for submission to the Science Discourse include:

  1. Regular Articles: These are reports of novel and painstakingly affirmed findings from rigorous and carefully designed experimental procedures, which should be explicitly described for possible verification. The length of a full paper should be the minimum required to fully describe and interpret the work clearly.
  2. Short Communications: A short communication describes the findings from small but complete investigation or details of new models or hypotheses, innovative methods, techniques or apparatus. The style of main sections need not conform to that of full-length papers. Short communications are 2 to 4 printed pages (about 6 to 12 manuscript pages) in length.
  3. Reviews: Submission of review and perspective on significant, topical and impactful concepts, theories and issues is welcomed.
  4. Letters to the Editor: Letters on matters of topical interest can also be submitted for consideration for publication.
  1. Manuscripts: Manuscripts should be double spaced with 12 points font size. The front page should bear the title of the paper without the authors’ information.
  2. Title page information
    Full Research Papers: Provide the following data on the title page (in the order given).
    a) Title. Concise and informative. Since titles are often used in information-retrieval systems, avoid abbreviations and formulae, where possible.
    b) Author names and affiliations. Where the family name may be ambiguous (e.g., a double name), please indicate this clearly. Present the authors' affiliation addresses (where the actual work was done) below the names. Indicate all affiliations with a lower-case superscript letter immediately after the author's name and in front of the appropriate address. Provide the full postal address of each affiliation, including the country name, and, if available, the e-mail address of each author.
    c) Corresponding author. Clearly indicate who will handle correspondence at all stages of refereeing and publication, also post-publication. Ensure that telephone and fax numbers (with country and area code) are provided in addition to the e-mail address and the complete postal address.
    d)  Present/permanent address. If an author has moved since the work described in the article was done, or was visiting at the time, a "Present address" (or "Permanent address") may be indicated as a footnote to that author's name. The address at which the author actually did the work must be retained as the main, affiliation address. Superscript Arabic numerals are used for such footnotes.
  3. An abstract, not exceeding 250 words should precede the text of the paper.
  4. Keywords: Immediately after the abstract, provide a maximum of 5 keywords, avoiding general and plural terms and multiple concepts (avoid, for example, "and", "of"). Avoid the use of abbreviations, only abbreviations firmly established in the field may be eligible.
  5. Article structure: The article should be divided into clearly defined sections and each subsection is given a brief heading viz:
    Introduction
    State the objectives of the work and provide an adequate background, avoiding a detailed literature survey or a summary of the results.
    Material and methods
    Provide sufficient detail to allow the work to be reproduced. Methods already published should be indicated by a reference: only relevant modifications should be described.
    Results and Discussion
    A combined Results and Discussion section is often appropriate. The presentation of the results should be clear and concise, and the discussion should explore the significance of the results of the work, not repeat them. Avoid extensive citations and discussion of published literature.
    Conclusions
    The main conclusions of the study may be presented in a short Conclusions section, which may stand alone or form a subsection of a Discussion or Results and Discussion section.

Acknowledgements
List here those individuals who provided help during the research (e.g., providing language help, writing assistance or proof reading the article, etc.).

  1. References style: Name and year style in the text.  All citations in the text should refer to:
    a) Single author: the author's name (without initials, unless there is ambiguity) and the year of publication;
    b). Two authors: both authors' names and the year of publication;
    c). Three or more authors: first author's name followed by 'et al.' and the year of publication. Citations may be made directly (or parenthetically). Groups of references should be listed first alphabetically, then chronologically.
    Examples: "as demonstrated (Oluwinjon, 2004a, 2004b, 2009; Adeyi and Gbade, 1995). Kosko et al. (2017) have recently shown ..."
    References should be arranged first alphabetically and then further sorted chronologically if necessary. More than one reference from the same author(s) in the same year must be identified by the letters "a", "b", "c", etc., placed after the year of publication.
  1. Tables, each bearing a title should be self-explanatory and numbered consecutively as it should appear in the manuscript.
  2. Figures should be drawn clearly and carefully on separate sheets, ready for reproduction. Captions to all figures should be collated and typed on a separate sheet.
  3. Proofs shall be sent to the corresponding author before the final publication of any accepted article. Authors should correct the proofs and return within 48Hrs in order to meet up with the publication schedule.

N.B: The approximate location of the Tables and Figures should be indicated on the margin

  1. Publication charges and reprints: Author will be requested to pay the appropriate publication charges before letter of acceptance is issued for the accepted article. The corresponding author shall be provided with an E-copy of the journal, free of charge, via e-mail.
